Alain Chabrier’s Summary

Alain Chabrier’s Specialties:

Management of multi-language, multi-culture, geographically spread development team.

Alain Chabrier’s Experience

  • IBM ILOG ODM Enterprise Product Manager

    IBM

(Public Company; IBM; Information Technology and Services industry)

    July 2009Present (6 months)

Now working on Product Lifecycle Management for ODM Enterprise.

IBM ILOG ODM Enterprise is a platform for developing and deploying custom planning and scheduling applications which includes :

    - a complete devevelopment environment for the different personas to work on the different parts : optimization model, business data model, user interface configuration and customization, scenario repository configuration, optimization server configuration,

    - an optimization server to deploy remote execution of scenario solving on J2EE architectures,

    - a scenario repository to deploy remote management of scenarios, enabling planning collaboration among the company,

    - a business user interface supporting scenario management and what-it, many kinds of out-of-the-box, configurable and customizable data and solution views,, collaboration, etc.

  • ODMS Tools and Platforms R&D Director

    IBM

(Public Company; IBM; Information Technology and Services industry)

    January 2007July 2009 (2 years 7 months)

As ODMS Tools and Platforms R&D Director,I am in charge of the development and QA teams for the Concert, OPL and ODM products.

The teams are geographically spread (from Bay area, Paris, Nantes, Nice, Madrid, Shangai...) which bring both challenges and opportunities.

ODM is a brilliant complement to OPL. It allows to easily generate planning and scheduling applications from an OPL optimization model. The application can be easily configured from the IDE.

ODM Enterprise is a complete enterprise platform where the ODM application can be customized and extended to support the complete needs of the customer, then deployed on a remote application server-based optimization server, and using a standard remote relational database to store all the scenario data.

  • OPL Project Manager

    ILOG

(Public Company; 501-1000 employees; Computer Software industry)

    20042006 (2 years )

Project Manager for the OPL Development Studio product.

OPL has been completely redesigned and rebuilt from scratch to allow better performance (not just a prototyping tool but an architecture for deploying optimization models) and to be embeddable in the ODM enterprise system based application.

OPL is at the same time :
    - a powerful optimization modeling language (from simple aggregate constructs to powerful scripting language)
    - a powerful IDE for Operational Research expert to develop, debug, tune and maintain optimization models.
    - a deployment runtime to easily deploy the optimization model.

The IDE is also the IDE of the ODMS platform, allowing to create and configuration the ODM applications.

  • Senior Scientist

    ILOG

    (Public Company; Computer Software industry)

    20002003 (3 years )

Member of the ILOG Optimization R&D team, I worked on several very different projects during these years :

    - participated to the first implementation of ILOG Concert Technology, a C++/Java/.NET modeling layer common to ILOG's linear programming and constraint programming optimization technologies.

    - participated to the design and implementation of JSolver, the pure Java Constraint programming engine

    - designed and implemented a Branch-and-Price-and-Cut library on top of Concert, CPLEX and Solver. Based on my PhD, allows to model Column Generation with shortest path sub-problems.

  • Optimization Consultant

    ILOG

(Public Company; 501-1000 employees; Computer Software industry)

    19971999 (2 years )

Working on several optimization projects for Spanish customer : bus scheduling, call center planning, airport handling planning, airline cre scheduling ...

Using ILOG Technologies : Linear Programming (CPLEX) and Constraint Programming (Solver-Scheduler). Mixing the technologies using Column Generation techniques.

    Based in Madrid.
