Enrique Varela Couceiro is the President of FUNDACIÓN TECNOLOGÍA SOCIAL (FTS) (social technologies foundation) which carries out plans and projects based on a friendly, usable and easy to use technologies for an inclusive society, as well as head of Accessible Technologies and R&D at the Fundación ONCE for solidarity and integration of persons with disabilities, which carries out projects aimed at training, employment and mainstreaming. This foundation is funded by 3% of the sales of the ONCE’s CUPON, a daily lottery hosted by the Spanish Blind Organisation (ONCE).
As representative of the ONCE and its Foundation, he is also member of the W3C Advisory Committee and the WAI (Web accessibility Initiative) Steering Committee.
As the President of FTS, he is member fo AAATE.
Amongst other current activities, he is one of the shareholders of ALTAIR Multimedia Solutions, a company especialiced in contents for e-learning, development of courses in different platforms and multimedia bassed courses.
Previously, he was CEO of one of the companies belonging to the FUNDOSA GROUP, TECHNOSITE, which specialises in developing internet technology.
He was also Head of the R&D Department of CIDAT, the ONCE’s research Center in technologies for the blind and visually impaired, and Technical Director of “CANAL 11”, an innovative project of radio broadcast system for Spain’s blind persons.
He has likewise held posts in the field of R&D within the ONCE itself, as well as having been a member of its General Council.
His broad experience covering over 27 years in technology has projected him to being a reference both in Spain and abroad in matters related to technologies, disabilities, and design for all.
He has participated as a speaker at several national and international congresses and in many working groups set up by the CEN, CENELEC and other bodies in Europe and the U.S.

He begun his co-operation with Il Village for the EzWalk Project.
EzWalk is the first ever dome GPS navigation system made from the very beginnin thinking on the demands for blind and partially sighted people, running on Symbian Phones an other mobile devices, it provides complete information on topics as: Where am I?, pedestrian route calculations and more.
EzWalk is not a software but a service include a sofware tool and also a comunity website to share routes, points of interest and more.
The future versions of EzWalk will allow people not just sharing routes and POIS but also being localiced if they want to.
He designed part of the interface and is makin all the feedback related jobs, as well as selings and other matters related to the development of this service.

TECHNOSITE is a company in the e-business sector providing hosting, housing, e-learnign platforms and tools, website management and other services related to ICT and Internet. The company is part of the FUNDACIÓN ONCE's group of companies. FUNDACIÓN ONCE is part of the Spanish blind organisation dealing with trining and employment for disabled people in Spain.
That is why TECHNOSITE makes all their projects under W3C and WAI requirements of accessibility and usability. More than the 75% of the staff are disabled and they were 35-40 employees when he started ceoing it and left the company with more than 110.
